What Would You Say In 180 Seconds?

A few months ago I participated in the Social Venture Partners – Arizona Social Innovative Fast Pitch 2012 Expo.  The goal of this event was for nonprofits to “build the capacity of, and create visibility for, innovative local nonprofits and the social entrepreneurs who lead them”.  We participated in the program, where we received training, feedback and mentoring on how to articulate our story.  This was perfect timing for us as we focus on our 2020 strategic vision.  Fast Pitch was a rallying point for us to work on how to communicate it to strangers as well as a deadline to get it done.  Fast Pitch accelerated our ability to make our vision public.  It built pride in our team that we have something special and award winning.  The public speaking and presentation skill training and confidence building for me was rich and rewarding.  The ability to see what resonates with community and prospect donors and volunteers - personal stories, concrete stories, simple stories are more engaging to judges and voting audience.  Although we didn’t win money we won relationships that will last far longer allowing our network to grow.  I was proud to share what I experienced and will continue to speak highly about SVP, Fast Pitch and what value it brought to me personally, professional and our organization holistically.
