What Can Teachers Learn From Homeschoolers?

A very intelligent high school classmate of mine, Karen Moss Guenther, she's on facebook, posed a great question yesterday to her friends...she asked "What do you think classroom teachers could learn from homeschoolers?"  Well whether she knew it or not, she stirred the pot when it came to comments!  Many folks chimed in...everything from focusing on the process not the results, keeping kids in mind and finding how best to teach to their needs, being compassionate, giving students more control over their academic plans, teaching to each child, etc.  It was a great discussion and I think opened up new thoughts to be considered on a larger scale.  In case you are not on Karen's friend list...what are some things you think that teachers, or even in the broader scope, schools, districts, state education departments can learn from homeschoolers?Karen
