THINGS TO TAKE AWAY FROM THIS WEEK…

It seems that most things on people’s minds at this time being so close to Christmas is:

  • did I forget gifts for anyone?
  • did I send all the gifts out?  will they get there on time?
  • did we get all the groceries and ingredients?
  • did I clean the bathrooms and vacuum the guest rooms?
  • how am I going to get through the next week?

I’m sure that you probably have more things as well on your mind but let me just throw some other things your way for a different perspective…what if you told yourself things like:

  • I’m glad that my family is healthy and we can celebrate this time together
  • I want to take the time and talk to ___________ and find out something that I didn’t know before
  • I want to step back and take this all in because this is all a wonderful gift
  • These are memories that my kids will remember and have when they get to be my age
  • I am very thankful for all of this and look forward to many more family times together!

Let’s try to enjoy being in the moment and not worrying about the crowds, the quirky family folks, the messes, the spills, the arguments, or the whining…this is all a part of coming together and sharing yourselves with others and that’s the important thing.  Next year will look and feel different and things will continue to change, we know that.  Enjoy how things are today and tomorrow and take nothing for granted!
