So Glad to Meet You Bob

If you have children, grandchildren or friends with children who are showing signs and signals that indicate reading readiness, let me introduce you to Bob Books.  As Bobby and John Maslen mention on their website:

Introduced to these books ten years ago from our oldest daughters Montessori School, we continue to use Bob Books with our third child and the thrill is still there each and every moment she completes a book, and set.  The good news for my wife and I is that we don’t have to know reading theory to use Bob Books.  We read the book aloud to start and when ready, invite her to read it to us.  We make it fun, silly and most importantly a daily part of our lives.

Reading just 20 minutes a day has done wonders for our two oldest and we plan to continue with our third.  In fact, it has helped me with my own reading habits.  To think we can stand 20 minutes in line waiting for our favorite coffee while reading to a child improves literary skills to last a lifetime.
