Does Reading Really Make You “A Better Reader?”
Great article about reading…by Daniel Willingham
I think is comes down to too many distractions in today’s world…I mean, speaking for myself, I cannot even simply watch TV anymore. I also have my laptop open and engaged as well as my Blackberry on the other side. During the weekends when I don’t fast forward through commercials I pick up my book and ready for 2 – 2 1/2 minutes. Not much engagement there so I think reading is an activity only reserved for a quiet, isolated environment so that you can truly engross yourself in the topic at hand and be taken away, as they say, from the moment.
