Chance Favors The Connected Mind
I’ve been reading Steven Johnson’s new book Where Good Ideas Come From. His book takes a unique and important position on the intersections between innovation, science, technology, relationships and culture. He shares great stores about science that reads like a narrative which allows us to examine the sources of creativity in all of us.
During our leadership retreat, I shared this four minute video. It is an excellent summary of the book and has all of the core concepts in it.
Steven gave a Where Good Ideas Come From TED talk in Oxford back in July. I particularly like the story at the end about the invention of GPS. If you have the time (about 15 minutes), it’s worth watching.
My gauge on book recommendations is the more I tend to share quotes and thoughts it becomes a must read. It has informed my way of thinking about creativity, relationships and following hunches that will someday connect with others. I hope you find the same experience in reading his book.
